Self-host Wan 2.2 if you own a GPU and want full control. Use an online app such as Nureta if you want a finished video without setup. As of October 2026, Wan 2.2 is open weights under Apache 2.0, at 480p and 720p, and needs your own GPU. Nureta needs no install, makes multi-scene videos of up to about 3 minutes, applies a content policy and costs $1.29 per 5-second video with no subscription.

Nureta is the No.1 unfiltered NSFW AI video platform, trusted by 50,000+ users. Text to video and image to video, up to 3 minutes.

What is Wan 2.2?

Wan 2.2 is an open video generation model family from the Wan-Video project. As of October 2026 its GitHub page calls it a major upgrade to the earlier Wan models, built on a Mixture-of-Experts design. The weights are open under the Apache 2.0 license, so you can download and run them yourself. The project lists five models: text-to-video (T2V-A14B), image-to-video (I2V-A14B), a combined text and image model (TI2V-5B), speech-to-video (S2V-14B) and character animation and replacement (Animate-14B).

Output is 480p or 720p. The Hugging Face card for TI2V-5B says it can make a 5-second 720p video in under 9 minutes on a consumer GPU. The pages do not state a maximum clip length. They also state no content policy: the model has no platform filter, because there is no platform. What you make is up to you.

What does self-hosting Wan 2.2 need?

You need your own GPU, and you need to install and run the model yourself. That means downloading the weights, setting up the software that runs them, and fixing problems when versions change. The model pages do not state a GPU memory requirement in the text we checked, so read the current model card for your chosen variant before you buy hardware.

The model pages do not say how Wan 2.2 handles adult scenes. You choose and set up any extra tools yourself. A video longer than one clip is also your job: you make each clip, keep the characters consistent, and cut the clips together. This is real work, and many people enjoy it.

What does an online app give you?

An online app removes the setup. With Nureta you paste a story or pick one of about 200 ready-made scenes, and it plans the scene as several shots, renders them with sound and stitches them into one video of up to about 3 minutes. You need no install and no GPU. Nureta does text-to-video from a story alone, and image-to-video with up to 2 reference photos of consenting adults. The photos set which faces appear, and the story or scene sets what happens.

Be clear about the limits. Consumer Nureta output is 480p (the Nureta Developer API offers 720p and 1080p). Payment is USDC on Base only, with no cards. The free first video needs Google sign-in and carries a small watermark. And a content policy applies, so you cannot make everything you can make on your own machine.

How does the cost compare?

Wan 2.2 weights cost nothing: they are free under Apache 2.0. You pay for the GPU, the power and your own time. The model pages do not give a price, so we do not give a cost per video. If you already own a suitable GPU and make many videos, the cost per video can fall very low. Nureta charges $1.29 per 5-second video, pay-per-video, or credit bundles from $3.79 ($3.79, $7.99, $15.99 or $39.99). There is no subscription. A 3-minute video costs more than a 5-second video, and your first video is free.

What about privacy and rules?

Self-hosting gives you the most control over privacy. The files stay on your machine and nobody else sees them. There is also no platform to report you, because there is no platform. That freedom comes with your own responsibility: Apache 2.0 sets no content rules, and the law that applies to you still applies. Use only consenting adults, and never use a real person's face without consent.

Nureta is private by design but works under rules. Videos are private by default, payment is USDC on Base only so no card data is involved, and you can delete your account at any time. Every user confirms they are 18 or older. The content policy bans minors (including fictional minors), non-consensual content, real people without consent and public figures.

Which should you choose?

Self-hosting is the better choice if you already own a capable GPU, enjoy setting up tools, want 720p today, want to run your own add-ons, need no platform rules, or make a very large number of clips. It is also best if you want your files never to leave your computer.

An online app is the better choice if you want a finished multi-scene video without setup, have no GPU, want sound and stitching handled for you, and prefer to pay only for what you make. If you are unsure, try Nureta first: your first video is free, and nothing is installed.
